Why we encourage combining treatments

Often patients at our Missouri plastic surgery practice come in with a request for improving their appearance that doesn’t fit neatly into the confines a single procedure. The most prominent example is a mommy makeover, a combination of breast and body procedures that gives patients a chance to address multiple concerns at once.

Here are a few reasons that combining can be a smart move:

  1. Full body treatments often give patients higher satisfaction. With a more comprehensive treatment plan, patients are often happier with their results. This not only goes for surgeries, but medical spa treatments too. Combining different skin rejuvenation treatments can address all your skin concerns. For example, microdermabrasion and light chemical peels can be combined to remove dead skin cells and give you smoother and younger-looking skin. Combining two or more treatments or procedures will be more transformative, so your overall results will feel more fulfilling.
  2. Breasts are typically affected by pregnancy, weight fluctuations, and aging — all common reasons to undergo a mommy makeover. Usually, when patients come in with complaints about the sagginess of their breasts, they are also unhappy with the laxity in their abdomen as well. Often, pregnancy and aging does not just affect one part of the body. For best results, we advise our patients to choose a treatment plan that can benefit the appearance of the body as a whole, instead of just focusing on one part.
  3. Combining procedures is more cost-effective. Each procedure requires a surgical fee, an anesthesia fee, and a facility fee. By combining multiple procedures during one single operation, you only have to pay the anesthesia and facility fees once.
  4. Patients only have to endure one recovery period. Consolidating your recovery time means you won’t have to take as much time off as you would have if the procedures were spaced out separately. Overall, you’ll be able to return to your normal activities nearly as fast as you would have if you only were undergoing one procedure.

It is important to choose a highly experienced doctor for a combined surgery. They can sometimes be more complicated procedures, so it is essential to find a surgeon that has been performing these types of surgeries for years.
