People choose to have cosmetic procedures for many reasons. Maybe they’ve always been unhappy with a feature on their body, or maybe they used to love the way they look and suddenly that changed. The reasons are as unique as the people themselves. For one of our mommies, Rhonda, this procedure is the “icing on the cake” after losing a lot of weight. She explains:

“I’ve spent most of my life being overweight. A few years ago, after I had my son and hit my highest weight ever, I decided I was done with being unhealthy. Not just for myself, but for him as well—I wanted a different life for us both, one that focused on being active and making healthier food choices. Over the course of a couple of years, I lost 70 pounds and haven’t looked back since. But irritatingly enough, diet and exercise alone won’t fix the fact that my skin is still loose and my body is not what I want it to be. After a massive weight loss, childbirth, and a little breastfeeding thrown in for good measure, everything sags. And frankly, after all of the hard work I put into losing the weight in the first place, I’m not content with my current situation. I’m having my breasts lifted, small implants placed, a tummy tuck, and a body lift. I’m also going to have Dr. Huffaker do liposuction on the top of my thighs.”

Once you make the choice to have a cosmetic procedure, the next step is scheduling a consultation. After weeks, months, or maybe even years of contemplation, setting up that preliminary appointment is a big step, one that can evoke many feelings, including anxiety. Rhonda explains below how she felt during that daunting appointment, and how she felt afterwards.
