It’s one of the most common statements patients make when meeting for their tummy tuck consultations at our St. Louis practice.
The “pooch” after childbirth or the extra skin after weight loss is often something that not even the most rigorous diet and exercise can fix. A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty will actually tighten the muscle walls to help give you a more toned midsection. At times our surgeons may even combine the tummy tuck with liposuction to reduce additional fat.
We can customize your tummy tuck procedure to fit your specific needs, as seen by these 3 examples:
- Full tummy tuck: This is the most common type of tummy tuck procedure. The surgeon is able to repair and tighten abdominal muscles, trim excess skin, and incorporate liposuction of the abdominal area.
- Mini tummy tuck: This procedure is perfect for people who have bulging and excess skin just below the belly button, commonly known as the “pooch”. This procedure usually requires less recovery time than the fully tummy tuck.
- Extended tummy tuck: This option is most common after major weight loss and extends to the love handle/flank area. Because a longer incision is required, there is a longer recovery period.
