Earlier this week, a new report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) came out indicating that chin enhancement was the fastest growing cosmetic procedure last year. While there could be numerous reasons for the trend, including aging Baby Boomers and people looking to get ahead in the workplace, there is another idea as well that may be a bit surprising:

Video chatting.

Now that a large percentage of our population has access to iPhones, and Skype, and other forms of video technology, people are seeing more and more what they look like on video, and they aren’t happy about it. According to Dr. Bruce White, many people hold their phone down low in front of them and pointed up when talking into it, and that allows them to see the worst aspects of their face–a bad chin, or loose skin along the jaw line and neck. Chin enhancement, or even a Next Day Lift, can help fix those trouble spots that weren’t as noticeable before.

How do you feel? Do you think technology can have this type of impact on self-perception?
