Training & Education
Dr. Nathan’s road to becoming a plastic surgeon began when he was in college. As the son of a general surgeon, he wanted to gain experience in an operating room. Fortunately, his father was able to put him in touch with a colleague in plastic surgery.
As Dr. Nathan puts it, “I was immediately hooked! I loved the variety of cases and the ability to truly change someone’s life.”
Dr. Nathan earned his BA in biology from Indiana University and his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Following a 5-year general surgery residency at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Dr. Nathan became certified by the American Board of Surgery. Having gained the technical skill and versatility of a general surgeon, Dr. Nathan decided to specialize further in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He completed a plastic surgery fellowship at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, which included rotations at the esteemed Brigham and Woman’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital.
