Your plastic surgery consultation – Time to show it off
I have sit in hundreds of cosmetic surgery consultations and you know what I've learned? Every single woman has her flaws and some more than others. You would be absolutely amazed what a woman can hide under her clothes. My point to this is don't be afraid to undress in front of your doctor. So many patients say they are embarrassed to un-robe in front of a total stranger. Trust me they have seen it all. Remember, you are at the consultation to fix what you don't like. Plus, if you only knew how great you will look and feel after surgery, your mind would completely open to th idea of unrobing.  It is a lot of fun to see patients after surgery when they can't wait to un-robe and have their after photo taken. In fact, some want to take their before and after photos home to show them off. They are just amazed they ever looked that way. Soon you will think that way too.

Michelle you are so right, the thought of unrobing in front of anyone made my stomach turn. I've had 2 sets of twins, leaving me with stretch marks and a lot of extra skin. But once I got in the consult room and found out everything could be fixed it made it a much easier to deal with. Plus the doctor made me feel so comfortable. Now 6 weeks post-surgery I feel and look great!

What not to do in a plastic surgery consultation
Don't let negative thoughts rule your thoughts. In a consultation most surgeons have a lot to cover from risks to recovery and everything in between.  So listen, it is a lot of great information. If you are already thinking of the next question to ask or telling yourself “I can't afford this or that you are worse off than you thought,” you will miss out on a lot. Most patients need more surgery than they thought when they come in (not all, but most).  For example, you may need a lift with your augmentation, liposuction with your tummy tuck, fat transfers with a facelift; this doesn't mean you are worse off than you think. This just means your surgeon wants you to get the very best results for you. It's kind of like buying new furniture and sticking it a room with lime green shag carpet and old flowered wallpaper. The furniture may look nice, but it's not a whole room makeover.  So remember, listen to what your surgeon tells you and get the whole room makeover.
