Our "Rapid Recovery" Approach
The board-certified plastic surgeons at St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery specialize in "rapid recovery" techniques that reduce downtime and speed healing. This typically includes a variety of practices that help to minimize tissue damage, bleeding and bruising in order to provide a more comfortable experience. Some of the rapid recovery techniques our surgeons employ include:
Minimal Tissue Dissection
The fundamental principle behind the rapid recovery approach is to respect the tissues and avoid blunt tissue dissection techniques (which are usually quicker and easier to perform). By using very gentle, focused tissue releases, our surgeons can reduce pain, swelling, and recovery time.
Pain Pump
Our surgeons offer a pain pump after surgery to help minimize discomfort. The pain pump contains local anesthetic that is released into the treatment area for 4 to 5 days. This helps to numb any post-operative pain, reduce nausea, and greatly improve patient comfort.
Personalized Care
Our three full-time patient care coordinators meet with every patient to thoroughly explain the recovery process. Patients are provided with detailed, easy to follow pre- and post-operative instructions to ensure optimal results. Before or after surgery, our patient coordinators are available to answer any questions you may have.
